prostitution - the social taboo

Prostitution is a taboo culture of sex-trade in a society that is present as an open-secret. Its illegal but all high authority officials are aware of this curse on a healthy society but nothing is being done to shut down such organizations. This is also because of the policemen who are being paid by the pimps or what ever you call them. These men don’t raid their brothels which is what they get paid for.
Prostitution is not just a service industry, mopping up the overflow of male demand, which always exceeds female supply. Prostitution testifies to the amoral power struggle of sex.... Prostitutes, pornographers, and their patrons are marauders in the forest of archaic night.
CAMILLE PAGLIA, Sexual Personae
There are two type of female prostitutes one are those girls who are abducted, kidnapped or lured in to this industry and the other type are those who go in to this business for the sake of earning money.
Prostitution exists today because women are objectified sexually, and because it is considered more permissible for men than for women to have purely sexual experiences.
RUTH MAZO KARRAS, Common Women
We say in these days that slavery has been vanished from this modern world but this; prostitution is a very major type of slavery. This slavery is of women; they are either forced to or willingly sell their bodies out of wedlock.

We say that slavery has vanished from European civilization, but this is not true. Slavery still exists, but now it applies only to women and its name is prostitution.
VICTOR HUGO, Les Misérables

The only way to stop this trafficking in and profiting from the use of women's bodies is for prostitution to be legalized. Legalization will open it up to regulation; and regulation means safety. As some of the women have HIV/AIDS and are unaware of it. So this way they will be tested for such diseases and will be given cure instead of ignoring the disease they will be treated properly.
